Instructions for Fall 2024 Advising
Registration begins on April 7, 2024
Advising will start on March 1, 2024
Dr. Zain Siddiqui will advise Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors. She will also evaluate and sign BS/MS forms
Please act early. To accommodate all students, we need to use the entire advising period.
- Juniors & Seniors must complete forms by 3/7/2024
- Sophomores must complete forms by 3/20/2024
Registration Process and Timeline:
-
Update your 4-year curriculum plan with courses you have taken and plan to take for Fall 2024. If possible, please fill out the classes you plan to take in a different color font. If you need assistance with this, peer mentors will be available during the general advising sessions.
-
Submit a Registration Form with your up to date curriculum plan. If your plan is satisfactory, we will remove your hold. Otherwise, we will request that you make an appointment.
-
If you are in the BS/MS Program, please complete your BS/MS Approval Form and submit it with your Registration Form for review. Dr. Siddiqui will send it back to you with her signature once approved.
Appointments:
Prior to scheduling an appointment, please make sure you have submitted your Registration Form.
Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors can schedule an appointment (if needed) with Dr. Siddiqui using this link.
MECH 236 Registration (Permit) Information:
In order to register for MECH 236, a permit must be issued. For BME students, the prerequisite requirement is a C or better in BME 302. If you need to take MECH 236 fill up this form. If you take MECH 236, and you are not in the Biomechanics concentration, you will need to take another 1 credit course, this can be BME 601 Seminar.
Choosing electives is the biggest concern for Juniors and Seniors. Keep the following in mind:
-
Take other BME concentration classes as electives. You can easily combine two concentration classes with your electives. This will make you more marketable in the industry.
-
We created a shortlist of suggested electives for you. Please visit our curriculum website for this information.
-
Be mindful of the difference between Engineering Electives and Advanced Science Electives. Please review the BME Catalog and the curriculum website.
Special Permits for Registration:
You may need a permit for registration errors due to missing prerequisites, field of study errors, honors cohort errors, year errors, or bridge permits. For closed course permits, you must be on the waitlist for the course. Closed course permits will be evaluated prior to the start of the semester after the waitlist notifications have been completed.
For special course permits, please fill-up the permit form. Your permit request will be evaluated by the Advisor and granted if appropriate. All permit approvals will be based on seniority. Please do not email your advisor about permits. The front desk will email you back once your permit is approved. Permit requests for courses outside the BME department cannot be approved by BME advisors.
