About me:
I am a freshman in the Albert Dorman Honors College majoring in Biomedical Engineering with a focus in biomaterials on the pre-health track. My passion in this field stems from my interest in both the maths and sciences. One day, I hope I can apply the knowledge I gained in my undergraduate career into the medical field. I long for the days I will be working in a hospital to save lives. Also, in the past couple months on campus I’ve gotten involved with the Pre-Health Society, Global Medical Brigades, Biomedical Engineering Society, and Nucleus. I’m looking forward to going to Ghana this spring break to help empower communities in need.
Why I chose to attend NJIT:
I chose to attend NJIT primarily because of its Honors College. Once I got accepted into the school, I could not give up the offer. Also, NJIT focuses on undergraduate research which is something I am interested in getting involved with.
What I like best about NJIT:
NJIT has a great student to faculty ratio. The class sizes are small and I don’t feel like a number here. Also, since the campus is small, it is super easy to get around. I always feel productive here.
My goals after graduation:
Once I graduate, I plan to attend medical school to become a neurologist. I've always been fascinated with the brain and its complexity.
My advice for prospective students:
My advice to prospective students is if you learn how to manage your time, you will be able to succeed. Although the course load for BME seems intimidating to some, in reality it comes down to time management. If you are able to stick to a schedule, you’ll be able to accomplish whatever you’d like.

About me:
I am a resident on campus, a member of the Albert Dorman Honors College, a peer mentor for the Learning Communities and a math tutor at the tutoring center. I love to sing and listen to music, and in my free time I enjoy reading. I hope to travel the world one day!
Why I chose to attend NJIT:
One of the main reasons I chose NJIT was because of its small classroom atmosphere. I am a very hands on learner, and being in a class with only thirty or so people makes it easier to connect and learn. I could not imagine sitting in a huge lecture hall with two hundred other people and being able to achieve anything. I also chose NJIT because it has a very well reputed BME department that offers many research opportunities to its undergrads.
What I like best about NJIT:
I really like the small campus, I can wake up thirty minutes before class and still be on time, and I never have to wait for a bus to get to class. I also appreciate all the opportunities that are available to us
My goals after graduation:
I still have a while to go before graduation, but after getting my bachelors in BME I hope to go to medical school and one day become an E.R. doctor.
My advice for prospective students:
Being a BME is not easy; it requires a lot of effort and dedication. Stay active and do not procrastinate on your assignments because once you fall behind it is really difficult to bring yourself back up.

About me:
I am a second year student at NJIT, majoring in Biomedical Engineering. I am a member of the Pre-Health Society and the Muslim Student Association, and secretary of the Biomedical Engineering Society. I am also a writer for the Honor's College magazine, The Technology Observer. I'm a part of CORE lab here at NJIT where I work on arm supports for individuals with DMD. In my free time I love to spend time with my family or hang out with my friends on campus. I also love Broadway Musicals (which NJIT sells discounted tickets for!).
Why I chose NJIT?
I wanted a university that could provide me with hands-on experience in Biomedical Engineering and a small campus that I could feel comfortable in. At NJIT I found both of those personal requirements and more.
What I like best about NJIT:
My favorite part of NJIT is the sense of community and family vibe that I get going to school everyday. When I first started, I thought I wouldn't be able to adjust to how classes are run in college and the general atmosphere of it all, but the upperclassmen were extremely helpful and supportive. I was surprised to find that there were so many faculty who are solely there to make sure the students are on track and are making the most out of their college experience.
My goals after graduation:
With a lot of hard work, I intend to go to Medical School, as well as focus on rehabilitation and medical devices.
Advice for Future Students:
I think one of the most important things that have helped me adjust and stay on track with my studies was reaching out to the upperclassmen and the advisors available to me to ask about coursework. Don't be afraid to ask for help, and most importantly don't be too lazy.

After visiting NJIT, I fell in love with the small campus size, the low faculty-to-student ratio, and the overall atmosphere. Along with its affordable tuition, I knew NJIT was where I wanted to study for the next four years.
What I like best about NJIT:
The small campus and small class size makes me enjoy coming to NJIT. Because of this small atmosphere, you are apt to get to know everyone on campus, allowing for a more welcoming and communal like atmosphere. The students and staff are so encouraging and are eager for you to succeed which is a motivating factor to me.
My goals for after I graduate:
I hope to enter graduate school to attain a doctorate degree in physical therapy where I would like to specialize with those using prosthetics and getting accustomed to walking with them. Biomedical engineering would give me a great basis on how prosthetics work.

Why I chose to attend NJIT:
It was without a doubt to me that the BME department was unique in its quality professors, education, and students. Additionally, the strength in both the pre-health advisers and BME advisers attracted me because I know that a strong foundation and support system is needed for my undergraduate career and future medical school matriculation.
What I like best about NJIT:
The BME department has already created a special and small family. A lot of my classmates are my closest friends. Moreover, the university is unique in its small student body yet large-scale university quality education: It gave me a chance to not only develop as a leader but also grow into the student I want to become with the flexibility of choosing my classes and ease of getting to know professors personally.
My goals for after I graduate:
After I graduate, I plan to attend medical school and one day become an ophthalmologist.
My advice to prospective students interested in Biomedical Engineering at NJIT:
Without a doubt BME is one of the hardest majors at NJIT. It's easy to get disheartened or distracted with the full loads of course work and level of difficulty you will face, compared to those of your friends. However, if you're truly passionate about the discipline and have a strong foundation in math and sciences, then BME will make you happy and be rewarding. I could not be happier with my decision to study Biomedical Engineering.

About Me:
I am a second-year biomedical engineering student as well as a member of the Albert Dorman Honors College. I work at a software engineering startup as a data analyst/machine learning developer and also work in the Brain Connectivity Lab on campus. In my free time I watch basketball and football, play beach volleyball, and watch YouTube videos.
Why I chose to attend NJIT:
Biomedical engineering is still a relativity new undergraduate major so not every university has it, even less have pre-health tracks for biomedical engineering which I was dead set on. I also was looking for a relatively small campus that was affordable without too much strain on my family. Finally, acceptance to the honors college allowed me to interact with people who wanted the same things from NJIT as I did, a learning experience and a chance at the future of our dreams.
What I like best about NJIT:
The friends I have made while attending NJIT are definitely the best part. Professors are there to truly help you understand material and are even willing to have heart-to-heart conversations with you. The connections that are made here I truly believe will last throughout my life.
My goals after I graduate:
After graduating I plan on trying to get an M.D./Ph.D. and to pursue a career researching neurological effects of external transducers.
My advice to prospective students interested in Biomedical Engineering at NJIT:
Be prepared for difficulties and lots of change in your lifestyle. College alone will be a big change for anyone but biomedical engineering ramps it up. I will be honest with you there is a lot of work, not all of it interesting like you hoped, but all of it has meaning. Everything you learn should connect to something you already know and something you will learn in the future. Biomedical engineering is a mixed bag, you learn biology sure, but you also learn mechanical, chemical, and computer engineering regardless of your track. Since there is so much to know, most people struggle at first but as long as you endure and work hard you will make it past the troubles and be better for it.
