Student Ambassadors
Undergraduate representatives promoting NJIT’s biomedical engineering program.
The biomedical engineering student ambassadors are a team of undergraduate students selected to represent the department and NJIT. They are a valuable resource for prospective students and parents who have questions about academics, campus life, or the community because they are experiencing it first-hand. Student ambassadors volunteer to help others get to know NJIT. The team members are of diverse backgrounds, and have diverse interests and goals. Below please find our ambassadors. To learn more about an ambassador please click on the student's name.

Jian KimSophomore, Biomaterials Jian is a rising sophomore in the Albert Dorman Honors College, majoring in biomedical engineering with a concentration in the biomaterials track. Her primary interest lies in incorporating artificial intelligence to develop innovative technologies that support patients with central nervous system injuries. Through her minors in Philosophy and Applied Ethics and Biological Sciences, she aims to gain a deeper understanding of both human nature and ethical frameworks in a world increasingly shaped by AI. Feel free to email her at: jk789@njit.edu ~ From Mexico |

Anthony LaosSenior, Biomechanics Anthony Laos is majoring in biomedical engineering, focusing on biomechanics as this is his second semester here at New Jersey Institute of Techology. He got into the mechanical engineering aspect when he was young and focused more towards biomechanics as it provided a lot of information from coding, handling software, and applications with science of physics, chemistry, and biology. ~ From Kearny, New Jersey |

Nada AliSenior, Biomaterials Nada is a senior majoring in biomedical engineering with a concentration in biomaterials. One thing she has learned during her college experience is that things don’t always go as planned, and that’s something she has learned to accept. What matters most to her is doing what she can with what she has and continuing to move forward. Whether it’s in research, classes, or just figuring things out, she has found that being consistent and open to learning matters more than having everything go perfectly. That mindset has helped her keep growing without being afraid to mess up along the way. ~ From Elizabeth, New Jersey |

Annie ThomasJunior, Biomechanics Annie Thomas is a rising junior on the Biomechanics track. She was interested in biomedical engineering because she was interested in integrating her passion for engineering and science to help develop medical devices that can help improve people's quality of life. This summer, she is interning at a medical device company that produces therapeutic exergames to help kids with cerebral palsy and adults with stroke to improve their range of motion in their upper extremity. This experience has deepened her interest in rehabilitation technologies and strengthened her commitment to pursuing impactful work in the medical device field. ~From Nutley, New Jersey |

Salsabil SattarSophomore, Biomaterials Salsabil chose biomedical engineering because she wants to help change people’s lives through medical innovation. Some of her hobbies are painting, baking, binge watching Netflix shows, and shopping. One fact about her is that she loves working with kids. She is currently working at a daycare as a teaching assistant. ~ From Totowa, New Jersey |
Stacy Hidalgo CabadaJunior, Biomechanics Stacy chose this major because she has always been passionate about helping people and wanted to pursue a career that combines her interests in healthcare and engineering. Biomedical Engineering offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a larger scale—through innovation and design that directly improves lives. Outside of academics, she enjoys being active and creative. She loves doing crafts, working out, hiking, and dancing. She’s also an avid reader and enjoys learning new things, especially when it comes to science, technology, or community issues. Giving back to her community is something she deeply values. In high school, she was a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, GOT Heart Community Service Club, and served as an AmeriCorps member. She also played softball throughout high school, both for her school team and in recreational leagues. Currently, she continues her involvement in the community as a Recreation Aide for her city, where she helps coordinate and support a wide range of sports programs, as well as family and youth enrichment activities. These experiences have shaped her into a well-rounded student with a strong sense of purpose and a desire to make a positive difference. ~ From Perth Amboy |

Zaid ChoudhrySophmore, Biomaterials Zaid Choudhry is, a sophomore Biomedical Engineering major on the pre-med track and part of the Albert Dorman Honors College. He chose BME because he’s passionate about combining medicine and tech to improve lives. This past summer, he participated in NJIT’s URI program, where he worked on a research project using motion data and machine learning to detect stroke-related movement impairments. He’s currently the Secretary of the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES), and he loves getting involved on campus. Outside of class, he’s into movies, spontaneous NYC trips, and going to the gym. He’s excited to help others find their path in BME. ~ From Lansdale |
