Biomedical Engineering Society (Student Chapter)
The NJIT Biomedical Engineering Society is a student-driven organization devoted to serving the needs of NJIT’s students by organizing and coordinating events geared towards fostering knowledge and awareness in the rapidly expanding field of biomedical engineering.
The Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) is responsible for keeping all students well informed of potential course and career options, expediting student-to-faculty connections, and creating an environment in which our members are free to grow and mature, not only academically, but professionally and socially as well. Some events the BMES has planned for the upcoming year include industry tours, on-campus research laboratory tours, and informative panels from both the NJIT faculty and alumni.
The Biomedical Engineering Society helps students explore various career paths, offering guidance and resources to help them make informed decisions about their future. This support not only benefits individual students but also enhances the overall academic and professional reputation of NJIT, contributing to the university’s mission of producing well-rounded, career-ready graduates. Ultimately, BMES strives to inspire and empower NJIT students to explore, innovate, and succeed in the rapidly evolving field of biomedical engineering.

BME Research Networking & Roundtable

The BME Research Networking & Roundtable event brought together undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and researchers for an engaging evening of connection and discovery. Hosted collaboratively by BMES and GBMES, this first-of-its-kind event featured a panel of distinguished faculty, including Dr. Bryan Pfister, Dr. Saikat Pal, Dr. Jonathan Grasman, Dr. Alexander Buffone, Dr. Elisa Kallioniemi, Dr. Jongsang Son, Dr. Maryam Hajfathalian, Dr. Bharat Biswal, and Dr. Roni Ventura, who shared insights into their research and answered student questions. Attendees also had the opportunity to interact with graduate students and learn about their experiences in various labs, making it a valuable experience for those exploring research opportunities and looking to expand their academic and professional networks.
The FDA Design Control Training Session

The FDA Design Control Training Session, hosted by the Biomedical Engineering Society, brought together students and professionals for an informative and engaging learning experience. Led by NJIT alumnus John Crombie, an accomplished product and portfolio developer, the session introduced key principles of FDA design control and explored their application in the medical device industry. Originally developed during Mr. Crombie’s time at Johnson & Johnson, the training provided attendees with valuable real-world insights and practical knowledge. Held on Wednesday, February 18, at 2:30 PM in Fenster 698, the event also offered refreshments and an opportunity for participants to learn directly from an experienced industry professional.
