Housing will be provided for students on the campus of NJIT. Aside from a returnable damage deposit, this will be free of cost to the students. Meals can be obtained at on-campus or off-campus sites. Housing will also include access to a kitchen area. Students will receive a per diem of approximately $15 to help offset the cost of meals.
All students will receive a stipend of $3000 for participating in the BioMEMS Summer Institute. This is in addition to the assistance with housing and meals mentioned above.
NJIT’s 48-acre newly landscaped campus is situated in the heart of Newark, New Jersey's largest city. The university shares the city's vibrant and multicultural University Heights district with the campuses of Rutgers University - Newark, the Rutgers Center for Law and Justice, the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Essex County College, and the developing University Heights Science Park. The campus is also only 20 minutes away from New York City, adding to the local and regional attractions.
Students will also have access to all of the facilities in the athletic center. These include the fitness area (containing computer controlled biking equipment, Cybex resistance units, and an indoor track), weight room, four racquetball courts (which can be converted for squash), a martial arts center, and an aerobics/dance studio, a six-lane swimming pool and four lighted outdoor hard court tennis courts behind the building. And don’t miss the open-air roof garden atop the new Campus Center!
