Third year with senior status
I am a pre-med representative with the BME Ambassadors program. My extracurricular activities include conducting research in NJIT’s stem cell research lab with Dr. Cho of the BME department, serving as President of NJIT’s Innovation Acceleration Club, fencing with the NJIT school team, and tutoring in the chemistry department’s learning center. I am currently applying for medical school with the hope of attending medical school in the Fall of 2014.
Why I chose to attend NJIT:
The reputation of NJIT’s engineering program and the generous scholarships I was offered were the primary reasons I decided to attend NJIT.
What I like best about NJIT:
There are many opportunities to get involved in extracurricular activities. NJIT provides students the opportunities to do everything from starting up a small business to helping students patent and develop new ideas they may have. Professors are very encouraging and go out of their way to help students by recommending them for summer internships, research positions etc.
My goals for after I graduate:
I plan on attending medical school in the Fall of 2014. Currently, I am interested in becoming a cardiologist.
My advice to prospective students interested in Biomedical Engineering at NJIT:
Do not assume that just because NJIT is a state school that you can take it easy. This is one of the biggest mistakes I see incoming freshman make. Hit the ground running and be prepared to work hard because biomedical engineering is a tough major, and NJIT sets the bar high.
