Leveraging technology in the management of neurological disorders
Neurological disorders are a worldwide public health issue. From acute events like traumatic brain injuries and stroke, that may or may not lead to chronic impairments, to chronic disorders like Parkinson’s disease and cerebral palsy that lead to life-long loss of function, these disorders contribute to significant morbidity and societal burden. Despite recent advances in technology and medication, much work remains to be done to optimize patient outcomes. While a major research focus is to develop new technology, another opportunity that we have is to identify novel ways to use technology in order to improve the management of these disorders. This presentation will discuss studies attempting to optimize three aspect of disease management using technological means: diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment.
