Meet Our Students: Uma Phatak
“NJIT provides a great support network for students. Class sizes are relatively small, making it easier to speak to professors and have questions answered.”
 MAJOR: Biomedical Engineering, with a minor in chemistry AFFILIATIONS: Albert Dorman Honors College RESEARCH: Assisted a research scientist at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark in research into blood coagulation. ACTIVITIES: Corresponding secretary of the NJIT Student Senate; member of the Fencing Team. HONORS. Presented her research results at the 29th Annual Northeast Bioengineering Conference held on the NJIT campus. . WHAT SHE SAYS ABOUT BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING AT NJIT: "The department provides many opportunites for real-world learning. I learned important research skills and lab techniques from a lab director at UMDNJ with years of experience. He provided guidance as well as opportunities to observe procedures, speak with doctors, and go on rounds." |
